It is the central religious text of Islam. In it, the names of God are revealed to be His attributes and names. The text is usually recited by Muslim scholars in the mosque, in a quiet and hushed voice, as a reminder to the people that God is present in every aspect of life and is worthy of being recognized and worshiped.
